Dive Bradford Esprit is committed to providing an environment in which all children and participants are having a safe and positive experience

To achieve this, we as a club commit to –

  • Adopt and implement the policies and procedures in WAVEPOWER to the full.
  • Recognise that all children participating regardless of age, gender, race, sexual orientation,religion or disability have the right to enjoy their involvement in diving in a safe environment and to be protected from any harm.
  • Make sure that all individuals who work /volunteer with children provide a safe and positive environment for them at all times
  • Appoint a Welfare Officer with all the necessary skills and training as outlined by Swim England who will take the lead in dealing with all child safeguarding issues raised within the club.
  • Make sure the Welfare Officers name and contact details are known to all staff, parents and members.
  • Ensure the Welfare Officer is available to discuss any issues of concern regarding Safeguarding and deal with these issue appropriately and in line with WAVEPOWER. Ensure all staff and volunteers that work with the children in the club have undertaken the appropriate training, have had the relevant DBS checks and work to the required practices for safeguarding children outlined in WAVEPOWER
  • Ensure that all child safeguarding matters are dealt with appropriately and in accordance with the guidance for reporting and action in WAVEPOWER.
  • Ensure that confidentiality is maintained and all information relating to child safeguarding matters is held in a safe and secure manner.
  • Ensure coaches and volunteers who work alongside the children are subjected to a full enhanced DBS check and they are also required to have an up-to-date safeguarding certificate which gets renewed every 3 years.

The committee is committed to ongoing child protection training for all coaches and volunteers.
