About City of Bradford Esprit

A Bradford City Council supported club, run by an enthusiastic, committed committee of diver parents. Dive competitions and fund-raising events are organised throughout the year.

Due to  the ongoing support of these parents the club is able to continue and thrive.

DiveBradford squad

Dive Groups

Bradford Aquatics is part of Bradford City Council and delivers the recreational and competitive diving sessions held in the Bradford district.

All pool classes are held at Shipley or Eccleshill pool. Some dryland classes are held at Manningham Leisure Centre

Foundation Squad

Aimed at children identified from the Learn to Dive scheme as having the potential to become competitive divers or who have completed the Learn to Dive scheme. Weekly sessions of 2hrs, aimed at preparing divers for squad-style training and competition.
National Skills Squad

A group for divers either currently competing at or aiming to qualify for national skills finals. 4 training sessions per week with aim of competitive success at national skills and to progress through to age group level diving.

Learn to Dive

Aimed at children aged 6+. 3 levels of class take place, beginner (30 mins), intermediate (30 mins), and advanced (60 mins). Learn to Dive class are held at Shipley swimming pool and Eccleshill pool.

Development Squad

Aimed at divers who are ready to start taking part in local, entry-level, novice skills events. Divers train 3 times a week. The squad aims to develop divers skills in the pool as well as dryland development. Gaining competitive experience at entry-level events with the goal to progress through to regional skill championships.

Talent Development Squad

Aimed at divers in age groups D and E who are progressing from National Skills to National Age Group and talent games level competitions. Divers in this group have been identified as having good physicality and the potential to be future elite-level divers. This group trains 4 times a week.

National Age Group Squad

For divers in age groups A, B and C who are either currently or aiming to compete at National Age group championships. 5 sessions per week with a variety of training to develop their skills with the aim of having success at Age group level events.

Performance Development Squad

For divers in age groups A, B and C who are aiming to compete at Elite Junior Championships. 6 sessions per week  with the aim of having success at British Elite Junior Championships and progress to compete at senior level.

 Adult Beginners

For divers aged 16+ with no diving background. 45-minute weekly sessions aimed at teaching the basic diving skills.

Ian Keighley
Diving Development Manager/Head Coach

 

Ian is the Diving Development Manager for the Bradford Aquatics Programme. He oversees the Council’s Learn to Dive scheme and squad training programme. 

Ian has been coaching for over 20 years in different programmes including Head Coach and Development Manager at Harrogate Dive Club, setting up of a completely new scheme at Corby Dive Club and working as Assistant Head Coach at City of Sheffield Diving Club.

Ian currently coaches the Performance Development and National Age Group diving squads.

Owen Passmore
Diving Development Coach

Owen is a former Bradford Esprit diver and has been coaching as part of the scheme for over 5 years.

Currently, Owen is lead coach for the National Skills and Development squads of  Bradford Aquatics Training scheme.
